Luke is Managing Partner at Gilberts and one of the firm’s audit partners. He trained in London and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2013. He joined Gilberts in 2020, and has worked with clients ranging from new start-ups to larger AIM-listed groups, with particular experience in the property, professional services and technology sectors.
Most of Luke’s clients are owner-managed and family businesses and the people who run them. He tends to work with them at every stage of the business – from setting up the company and early tax planning, through audit and accounts, corporation tax and VAT, to raising funds (including SEIS and EIS), personal tax and inheritance tax planning, and planning an exit.
Alongside the technical work, Luke enjoys helping owners think about where their business is heading and what drives its value. That covers growth, people and how ready the business would be for a sale, so that the decisions they make now support their longer-term plans.
Luke also leads Gilberts’ use of AI and technology, with the aim of giving teams more time for the proactive, judgement-led work that clients value most.
He is a member of the ICAEW Audit and Assurance Faculty’s Technical and Practical Audit Committee and contributes to the Institute’s responses to consultations on audit, reporting and regulation. This keeps him close to how the profession is developing, gives him the chance to help shape it, and means his clients hear about changes that affect them well before they take effect.
